What’s Happening In 2024

January-February

Sunset Hill Tree Farm is still going strong.

The winter is the time to plant trees, start bedding plants for spring, fix, build and prepare for the busy Spring season.

We are planting 400 Virginia Pines, 100 Spruce Pines, and 100 Sand pines this year.

We lost so many trees to the heat in 2022 so we planted 800 new trees at Alvarado in 2023. We have been reminded that through adversity there is revelation and the summer of 2022 taught us what was needed to keep our trees alive, 2023 we were successful at saving most of our new and older trees from succumbing to the heat.

March-May

We will be open to the public Spring Break March 11-17

We are looking forward to Spring field trips and lots of fun learning this year!

We will begin planting our gardens around Good Friday at the end of March. I love taking classes into the garden and this year our homeschool groups will be planting their own garden.

We are praying for rain, wisdom and extraordinary growth!!!

June - August

The summer months will be crazy busy in the garden.

We will be harvesting all of the veggies that we have planted.

We know it will be inevitable the rain will stop, and watering will commence. We will have to resume our summer watering schedule; we will be getting up early and staying up late as we work to keep our plants alive during the dog days of summer.

We will be making final preparations for our Pumpkin Patch and Tree sales. We will be adding new fun things to the play area and of course prepping our animals to show off accordingly for all of our customers.

September - December

We are available for school field trips year-round but the September - December times are really great for educational experiences.

We are available for birthdays, reunions, parties and meetings. Let us see how we can help you!

October we are open every Saturday and Sunday 9-5 for Pumpkin Patch. There are lots of pumpkins, food, photo ops, play time fun, hayride and more. Affordable and awesome come join us in October.

November is the month filled with photographers. Find your favorite photo expert and book a time to get your family pictures done. The trees will be amazing this year. only $25/hr and memories to last a lifetime.

And of course tree sales begin the Friday after Thanksgiving. We are ordering more North Carolina Fraser Firs this year so come see us for you perfect tree!
